Ever wonder what wind looks like?
We sit in the park, on the back patio, or on the beach and feel the breeze – how refreshing! But we can’t see the wind itself. We can look around and see the trees rustling, the hair on the small child moving, the palm branches bowing, but we can’t see the wind.
We can only see its effect.
Of course, we’d laugh if someone told us the wind didn’t exist. Our reply might be, “Look! Right there is the effect of the wind.”
Although it might be nice to be able to “see” God, we don’t. But there is no shortage of visible signs of God’s Spirit at work around us. We can see the effect of God’s presence in the smallest of things and the biggest of things – the kind word of a friend, the majesty of creation, the assurance of key Bible promises, or the deep forgiveness we may receive and give. All of it serves as evidence that God is at work.
I pray we will have eyes to see…and that we won’t miss even an ounce of all God is accomplishing in and around us.
